The 43rd yearly Golden Joystick Awards unfolded this past week, and with a remarkable performance, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 claimed the title of the most decorated winner. This surprise role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive secured the prestigious Top Game award, along with honors for Superb Storytelling and Top Visual Design.
Adding to the developer's triumph, its skilled cast also received personal awards. Jennifer English won Best Lead Performer for her role as Maelle, while Ben Starr won Best Supporting Performer for his acting as Verso. Moreover, Sandfall Interactive itself was honored as Best Development Team. Altogether, Clair Obscur and its creative team collected 7 awards throughout the show.
Additional notable winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which received Top Sound Design and Best Console Game, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, winning Top Self-Published Indie and Premier PC Title. Worth mentioning, the bulk of Golden Joystick Awards are chosen by the audience, with only four special—Critics Choice, Rising Star, Hall of Fame, and Streamers’ Choice—determined by critics.
