Well beyond 14 days subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues are still paying respects to the pair.
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, stated he just recently felt ready to share openly about his deep grief.
"Adequate time has passed that I can at last express my sorrow into words," shared Elwes, adding that his introductory moment with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started spending more time together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the movie, remarking that he doesn't recollect "one day without laughter".
"The movie is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Principles that Rob cherished deeply. This is one of the many reasons he was the perfect person to helm it," Elwes continued.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, saying: "Asserting that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still pangs every time I recall you." He ended with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
In a distinct tribute, legendary director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the protagonist.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked wonderfully with everyone, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese noted.
This week, a Los Angeles superior court judge decided to block the release of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, at the request from the local authorities.
A legal directive issued a embargo on the cases to restrict the public release of "related notes, documents, files or images" associated with the ongoing investigation.
The Medical Examiner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the consequence of foul play, with a record listing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
After the deaths, public individuals offered varying responses.
Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, making divisive remarks that were met with immediate backlash by numerous public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his perspective to the those speaking out recently. Talking on his program, Rogan characterized the statements as "disappointing" and implied they demonstrated a concerning deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan ended by suggesting that an associate should have acted when the decision to speak on the passing was made.
