Let's Crown the Greatest Title of the Console Generation: Final Four

The past two days have been nothing short of dramatic. On Monday, we marked the five-year anniversary of the PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles with a competition to decide the top exclusive title of this console generation. We presented eight PS5 games and eight Xbox Series X games to face off against each other, all heading towards a championship round where the leading contender from each platform would battle it out. There have been some incredibly close calls in the initial matchups, especially the extremely tight polls from the previous day. Now, it's moment to decide the best PS5 and Xbox Series X games before the championship on Thursday.

PlayStation 5 Contenders

On the PS5 side, we have the Kratos-killer, Astro Bot. Perhaps it's expected considering that it took home the top prize at last year’s Game Awards, but its win against God of War Ragnarök seems like a major shock. But to get to the finals, it'll need to defeat the most valuable player of the PlayStation 5 era: Insomniac Games. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 enjoyed an easy journey to the final four, leaping past Ghost of Yōtei and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (another title from the same studio!) to land in the final four. Will Spider-Man defeat a home-grown Sony mascot, or is he fated to become a miniature appearance in the next Astro Bot game?

The Xbox Series X Side

The Xbox Series X side has been more exciting. Emerging victorious from a diverse lineup of contenders is Forza Horizon 5. It's a big victory for the open-world driving game so far, proving that a niche category title deserves to be on the same pedestal as classic platformers and story-driven epics. Its last roadblock en route to the finals is a big one, though. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has shown itself as a fan favorite, beating acclaimed titles like Pentiment and Hi-Fi Rush. Will it overcome a much bigger game from an well-known franchise that's closely tied to Xbox itself? Should anyone manage this feat, it's likely Indiana Jones.
